Port Vale reached the semi-final of the F.A. Cup in 1953-54 and for the 5th Round cup tie against Blackpool they included two team photos as an insert to the match programme. The photos were printed on one sheet that was stapled into the middle of the programme but the other side of the sheet is blank. Thanks to bisphamseasider for the scan and the information...
The photographic insert was likely to be the only one that season because the club notes say "To celebrate the occasion we introduce a souvenir programme which we hope with its hard paper photographs of the two teams will be worth preserving".
The programme is a 16 page issue with the extra 4 pages showing the teams and blank on the reverse.
There were no other home cup ties after this victory which would warrant another insert.

Panini / Alpine Products UK - Panini Album Stickers

Panini Album Stickers
Panini / Alpine Products UK
91 stickers

I've had an entry in my database for more than 20 years, I look at it from time to time and think that I should delete it as it must be some sort of error. A number of stickers are listed that depict Panini football album covers. I can't even remember where the information originally came from and sometimes think I've been mistaken and they were probably issued with a Panini album somewhere.
I've just had an e-mail from John Levitt that has confirmed the issue of an unusual collection of Panini stickers showing a wide range of album covers...
This collection was produced by Panini for a South London firm that made self adhesive labels. The firm was called Alpine Products UK. The sticker set dates from about 1987-88 and each sticker is sized 68mm x 108mm. It consists of 91 unnumbered self adhesive stickers in a special box, 87 of which depict Panini Album covers. All 87 of these stickers are printed by Panini in Italy on "Reflex" self adhesive label stock provided by Alpine Products and the additional 4 stickers depict adverts for various Alpine Products and appear to have been produced by Alpine themselves on their Kleen Part self adhesive label stock. The backs of the stickers featuring the Panini albums all have a letter of the alphabet on them (87 of them) plus a cartoon taken from either "Plodding" or "101 uses of a Police Helmet" both by John Witt and published with the permission of Police Review Publishing Co. There are 40 different cartoons, some are produced only once but the majority twice over 77 stickers with the remaining 10 depicting discount vouchers, order forms or other details for Alpine Products.
One of the 4 stickers produced by Alpine features details of a competition to make a phrase or slogan to promote the Alpine 89 campaign. You have to use the amount of letters shown on the back of the stickers. There is according to the sticker an amazing 1st Prize. Note that most letters of the alphabet are produced 3 or 4 times with letters x, y and z produced only once. I presume the slogan must contain all 87 letters and was probably very hard to complie yet alone win if the prize existed and a winner was declared.
Alpine Products U.K. was registered as a Private Company at Companies House in 1986. It has now been dissolved, date unknown. It was a manufacturer of paper and board products and was based in Southwark, London.
At least 20 of the stickers feature football. I started a list of all the stickers, complete with a list of every back. In addition I have shown (in brackets) a helpful hint (hopefully) as to what genre I think the Panini album belongs to and for the police cartoon I have shown an approximate estimation of the context of the cartoon or I have shown the punchline. In case you are unaware most of the TV cartoons also generated spin-off products in the toy field as well as stickers.
The list is as follows:-

The stickers are numbered in groups, G1 to G54, D1 to D102, etc. I have to thank Neil Goulding for doing all the hard work in compiling this checklist. For the most part, just surnames though.

UPDATE (29-09-2015 18:52):  Nik Yeomans has very kindly sent me a copy of his spreadsheet for this collection which has allowed me to add all the christian names. He also had the players sorted by club and I'll include that checklist tomorrow.
